Karius's Products & Differentiators

    The Karius Test

Karius is delivering a commercially available liquid biopsy for infectious diseases test that can diagnose deep seated and bloodstream infections rapidly, non-invasively, and quantitatively. The company can measure microbial cell-free DNA (mcfDNA) in blood plasma for >1,000 pathogens (bacteria, DNA viruses, fungi, and parasites). The test detects mcfDNA in extremely low abundance compared to human DNA, with high specificity for each pathogen in the report. The test overcomes significant challenges of high human background and cross-reactivity to provide an accurate diagnosis by a day after specimen receipt, compared with up to weeks for some standard-of-care (SOC) methods.

Newcastle United's 2023 out of contract players as expiry dates edge closer

Apr 29, 2023

Newcastle United's 2023 out of contract players as expiry dates edge closer Matt Ritchie is among six Newcastle players who are out of contract in the summer. × Invalid emailSomething went wrong, please try again later. More info × Newcastle United have six players out of contract in June, as Eddie Howe continues his rebuild at St James' Park ahead of the summer transfer window. The Newcastle boss has assembled a strong squad during his first three transfer windows at the helm, and this summer is expected to be another big window, especially if Newcastle secure Champions League qualification. Jonjo Shelvey was the headline name on Newcastle's 2023 out of contract contingent prior to his move to Nottingham Forest in January. But there are six names who are yet to decide on their futures as their respective contracts run into their final two months. ChronicleLive have rounded up which Newcastle players are out of contract in the summer of 2023... Matt Ritchie Ritchie has spent the last seven seasons at St James' Park but his stay on Tyneside appears to be coming to after falling down the pecking order under Eddie Howe. The 33-year-old had a spell on the sidelines just prior to the World Cup but has been available for selection since the Premier League resumed. However, he has amassed just 212 minutes across all competitions, and only 32 minutes in the Premier League this season. Football Insider claimed in February that Ritchie has received interest from clubs in the Championship and League One, as well as in his native Scotland. Loris Karius Karius joined Newcastle's goalkeeping contingent back in September last year following an injury to Karl Darlow. The former Liverpool stopper was signed purely to provide back-up, although he was presented with his debut in Newcastle's 2-0 Carabao Cup final defeat against Manchester United in February. It could prove to be his first and last appearance for the Magpies unless both Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka are both unavailable (strangers things have happened) in any of the final seven games. According to a report from fcinternews.it in March, Karius has emerged as a target for Inter Milan, with the Serie A giants viewing him as a 'low-cost deputy' to Andre Onana. Matty Longstaff Matty Longstaff, the younger brother of fellow Newcastle midfielder Sean, marked his Premier League debut with a stunning strike in a 1-0 win over Manchester United in October 2019. However, the 23-year-old has been unable to build on his stunning start to life at St James' Park, and has not appeared for the first team since January 2021. Longstaff has been plagued by a number of injury problems, and was sent out on loan to Aberdeen and Mansfield Town last season. He once again returned to League Two with Colchester United for the current campaign, but was ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a serious knee injury on Boxing Day. Paul Dummett Dummett has spent his entire career at Newcastle bar loan spells at Gateshead and St Mirren respectively between 2012 and 2013. The Welshman was a crucial figure as Newcastle lifted the Championship title, and has provided steady back-up for much of his 11 seasons at St James' Park. But Dummett faced a spell on the sidelines either side of the World Cup break, and is still yet to make a single Premier League appearance this term. His only appearance in any competition this season came in a 2-1 win over Tranmere Rovers in the EFL Cup second round in August 2022. Mark Gillespie Gillespie penned a three-year deal with his hometown club Newcastle in July 2020 after spending eight years in the academy between 2000 and 2008. He has never made a single Premier League appearance for the Magpies, although he did feature three times during their EFL Cup campaign in 2020/21. Ciaran Clark Clark joined Sheffield United on a season-long loan back in the summer in a move that virtually ended his Newcastle career considering he had run into the final year of his contract. The defender has amassed 127 appearances for the Magpies since arriving from Aston Villa in 2016. He has been reduced to just 11 outings at Sheffield United this term due to injury, but has just achieved automatic promotion with the Blades. READ NEXT
