From automating the creation of personalized videos to enabling new virtual customer experiences, these startups are using AI to help brands and retailers create highly engaging digital content at scale.
Brands and retailers are increasingly relying on digital content — from product images for e-commerce sites to virtual try-on features to online videos — to increase brand awareness, convert online shoppers, and boost loyalty.
But conventional production approaches might not be able to support brands and retailers delivering personalized, engaging digital content at scale. Synthetic media — content that has been generated, edited, or enabled by artificial intelligence — could be the solution.
For example, Meta (formerly Facebook) and Google have created AI-based image generation applications that use text-to-image diffusion models. Users can enter any text prompts (e.g., a blue jay standing on a basket of rainbow macarons) to produce a matching image.
Other companies are using synthetic media to create virtual influencers and brand ambassadors. Lil Miquela, a digitally-manufactured influencer created by digital studio Brud, has done promotions for Prada and Calvin Klein, and is now the face of PacSun.
But big tech companies and major brands aren’t the only ones making moves in the space. Early-stage startups are gaining traction as they create digital content for a growing range of use cases, such as marketing campaigns or the metaverse.
